Kusama Vision KYC — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 September 2026.
This policy explains how this page handles your data. It is deliberately narrow: the page is a static document with no backend of its own. The identity and residence verification is performed by zkMe, whose own privacy policy governs that process; the parts of your case handled directly by the curators are described in your Matrix room.
Who operates this page
This page is operated by the Kusama Vision curators. There is no company or
server behind it: it is published as static files to IPFS and reached through the ENS name
kyc.kusama-vision-pop.eth. For any question about your data, ask in your applicant
Matrix room.
What this page does not do
- It has no backend and sends nothing to any server that the curators run.
- It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking, and stores nothing in your browser (no local storage, no session storage).
- It contains no advertising and shares nothing with advertisers or data brokers.
Your personal verification link
The link a curator sends you carries, after the # in the address bar, the curator's
name, a session token and your verification ID (a random code starting with
kv that contains no personal data). By the design of the web, everything after the
# stays in your browser and is never sent to the web server or gateway
that delivers the page. The page reads these values locally to show you the right verification
steps. Treat the link as a secret while it is valid: anyone who has it could start a verification
session against your ID.
What is sent, and to whom
- To zkMe. When you start a check, your verification ID and session token are passed to the zkMe widget, and the verification itself (your government ID, a live selfie and, for residence, an address document) is uploaded to and processed on zkMe's servers. This is not an on-device-only system. To check status, the page also asks zkMe whether a given verification ID has passed. All of this is governed by zkMe's privacy policy. What zkMe stores long-term, and the associated risk, is described on the verification page under "Where your raw data ends up".
- To the curators. Tied only to your anonymous verification ID, each curator receives your verified country of residence, your country of citizenship, and pass/fail results (identity, liveness, residence outside the embargoed countries, and zkMe's own sanctions pre-check). The curators do not receive your name, date of birth, address, documents or selfie through this page. Anything the curators need for their own sanctions screening is arranged separately in your Matrix room, not through this page.
- To the hosting gateway. Because the page is fetched over the public web
(e.g. an IPFS gateway such as
eth.limo), the operator of the gateway you use can see the ordinary request for the page — such as your IP address and which page you loaded — as any web server would. Your personal link fragment is not part of that request. The curators do not operate these gateways and receive no logs from them.
Legal basis and retention
Verification is carried out to meet the Kusama Vision Program's identity, residence and sanctions obligations. This page itself retains nothing. Retention of your verification materials is handled by zkMe under its policy; the results the curators receive are retained by the curators as needed for those obligations. Details of the curator-run process are shared in your Matrix room.
Your choices
Verification is voluntary, but it is a condition of participating in the Program. If you do not wish to use zkMe, say so in your Matrix room: a manual verification process without zkMe exists. For access, correction or deletion of data held by zkMe, use the contacts in zkMe's privacy policy; for data held by the curators, ask in your Matrix room.
Changes
Because the page is published to IPFS, each version is immutable and identified by its own content hash; updates are released as new versions and pointed to by the ENS name. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
